Midwifery 20009

Basic Class 2002
The 2010 WOMANCRAFT COURSE in MIDWIFERY STUDIES with LOCAL OPTION is in full swing. The 2011 course begins in April 2011. See the brochure below. Register early as this class fills up quickly.

Our Mission:
*To provide a nourishing interactive learning environment for women to study holistic midwifery including midwifery art, academic, technical and clinical knowledge.
*To preserve the apprenticeship model of training and the age old tradition of woman to woman, mother to mother passage of knowledge
*To provide affordability, structure and a format that allows women from diverse backgrounds, ages, family status and financial status a route to study midwifery.

The WOMANCRAFT COURSE IN MIDWIFERY STUDIES is offered through both a LOCAL option and an ON-LINE academic option in direct entry midwifery.

The LOCAL option includes 9 monthly classes held in Amherst, MA and 10 on-line modules which provide a strong academic foundation and the opportunity to learn and practice clinical hands-on skills. The 2010 class starts in April. Early registration is recommended as the class is filing up quickly.

The ON-LINE distance education program is an in-depth opportunity to build a strong academic foundation in midwifery without having to travel away from home. The registration for this class is ongoing.

WomanCraft also offers an Advanced Midwifery Course. This is a second-year course for advanced students designed to provide a route for the continuing in-depth study of midwifery and women’s health issues. The course focuses on specific topics that midwives may want to add to their practice and knowledge base. This course includes 8 online distance education modules and 7 workshops. This course does not meet every month in order to allow students adequate time to work on the modules and their research project in between workshops. All classes will be on Sundays with the exception of the 2-day Advanced Skills weekend. Exact dates for 2011 are TBA. There is a distance education option for this course.

WomanCraft offers a 4-day Beginning Midwifery Retreat. These workshops are a great opportunity to learn clinical hands-on skills, deepen your knowledge base and spend time immersed in the art of midwifery.

Upcoming dates for the Beginning Midwifery Retreat workshops are September 24-27th 2010 in Amherst, MA

For information on our distance program or workshops please see the brochures for each program. You may also request information by sending email to beth@womancraft.org

WomanCraft blends a wholistic woman-centered, family-center philospophy of care with in-depth academic knowledge and clinical research. Our programs are designed to provide a strong foundation for aspiring midwives and apprenticing midwives. WomanCraft honors and encourages the tradition of apprenticeship within midwifery.
